All Saints’ Church began its worshipping life in one of the local primary schools while waiting for the building and development of the Beacon Centre, in which the church would be housed. The Beacon Centre is built on land held by the Chelmsford Diocesan Board of Finance but the building itself is held under a four way sharing agreement with the Methodist Church, United Reformed Church and the Community Church based upon Chafford Hundred. In the early stages of the development it was thought that the church would become a Local Ecumenical Project (LEP) but this has never come into effect. However, All Saints’ church has continued to operate with an ecumenical welcome to all.
After many years in construction (due to issues of funding) the Beacon Centre was finally completed in May 2008 and the church moved into its new home. Today the building has many visitors each day both to the cafe and to other community activities that take place there, and is very much at the heart of the local community of Chafford Hundred. The Angel Cafe is open all day Monday to Saturday, plus there are also a variety of tuition groups (Maths, English, Russian, Art, Computer programming and Chess) throughout the week. The Beacon is also the home for the local Scout Group, the WI, Slimming World and Yoga. For the younger children there is Hartbeeps (0-5year olds), Toddler health checks, Baby weighing and Baby Ballet. The building also hosts two trained counsellors providing services for families and individuals. There are also rooms hired out for special occasions.
