Grays Town Centre

St. Peter & St. Paul’s is the ancient Parish Church of Grays Thurrock. The building is ‘Grade II Listed’ and is an expression of over 900 years of Christian belief and worship within the community of Grays. The earliest parts of the present building are thought to have been built around 1100AD and in the years that have followed it has been much enlarged to its current size of around 300 seats.

Our main Sunday service takes place at 10.30am. Children’s Church groups meet which cater for children aged 3 upwards. With growing numbers of young people, our Children’s Church meet in the main Hall, located at the rear of the Church. There are Children’s activities every week too, with the 2nd Sunday of the month being our All-Age Family Service with Baptism.

Having the use of the Hall on a Sunday mornings also gives us the freedom for social events after the morning service.

We hold a midweek service of Holy Communion which takes place every Thursday morning at 10.30am.

The church is a very popular location for Weddings and Baptisms. Enquiries should be made to the Rector (details below).

We hold a ‘Lunch Club’ for over 60’s and early retired that meets every Thursday within the Church Hall during term time.

Our Church Hall is used daily for local community use e.g.
Pre-School, Brownies, Keep Fit, Karate, Dancing, Lunch Club & after school clubs. Enquiries should be made to
The Parish Office on 01375 373215.

...And partied on ‘Back to church Sunday’

The long awaited internal re-ordering of Grays Parish Church has now begun with the PCC unanimously agreeing to award the main contract to TJ Evers Ltd a construction company based in Tiptree Essex. The works include the
following… a new main entrance, much improved disabled access, new toilets, new lighting, heating and sound system, coffee/light refreshment area, new seating within the main worship area together with a much needed general redecoration of the interior of the building. The exterior of building will also be floodlit. The work will hopefully be completed before the end of September and whilst the church building is closed we will continue to hold our regular worship within the Parish Hall. Please continue to hold this significant project within your prayers.
